NAPS SCHEME

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme ( NAPS ) is the scheme notified by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship ( MSDE ), Government of India on 19 August 2016 providing for financial support to the industry undertaking apprenticeship programmes under the Apprentices Act,1961.

The Regional Directorates of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship ( RDSDEs) under the control of Directorate General Of Training ( DGT ) are the implementing agencies in their respective states/regions in respect of all "Designated Trades". National Skill Development Corporation ( NSDC ) and CEOs of the Sector Skill Councils under the control of NSDC are the implementing agencies in their sectors in respect of "Optional Trade".

Apprentices can be engaged under NAPS from the following categories :

  • Trainees passed out from ITI courses.
  • Trainees who have completed any NSQF aligned Short Term Course including PMKVY/DDU GKY/MES.
  • Graduates candidates, pursuing graduation courses/Diploma courses in any stream or 10+2 vocational certificate holders.
  • Candidates who possess minimum educational qualification required for a trade and have not undergone any formal trade training ( Fresher Apprentices ).

    NATS SCHEME

    The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme ( NATS ) is a flagship programme from the Government of India, and undertaken by the Ministry of Education. The programme is aimed at enhancing the employability of students by equipping technically qualified youth with practical knowledge and skills required in their respective field(s) of work.

    National Apprenticeship Training Scheme ( NATS ) is implemented through Boards of Apprenticeship/Practical Training located at Mumbai, Chennai, Kanpur & Kolkata which are autonomous organizations under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education.

    Target Group:

  • Graduate or Equivalent in Engineering/Technology streams.
  • Diploma or Equivalent holder in Engineering/Technology streams.
  • Graduate or Equivalent in general streams such as BA, B.Sc & B.com.

    • Advantages of NAPS/NATS Scheme for Industries

  • NAPS : 25% of stipend subject to a maximum of Rs.1500 per month to the candidate from GOI.
  • NATS : Rs. 4500 for Graduate And Rs. 4000 for Diploma apprentices.
  • Employers exempted from contribution to EPF & ESI.
  • CSR for apprentices deployment above 2.5% of manpower strength..
  • Labour laws not applicable to apprentices.
  • It's not obligatory to absorb the trainees after the training period.

    • Role of PRERNA Group - TPA ( Third Party Aggregator )

  • Mobilize and counsel candidates to undergo apprenticeship training.
  • Company/Establishment Registration in Portal.
  • Employers exempted from contribution to EPF & ESI.
  • Candidate data collection for registration.
  • Generate contract letters between candidates & establishments.
  • Upload contracts of apprentices on the apprenticeship portal on the behalf of the establishment.
  • Assist establishments in arranging the BTP
  • Replacement of trainees in case of separation.
  • Monitoring daily attendance of trainees to control absenteeism.
  • Furnish all the returns on the portal site on behalf of the establishments.
  • Submission of reimbursement claim and closure.
  • Ensure compliance and all formalities by the apprentices for appearing in assessment examinations
  • Assist the establishment to conduct assessment and issue certificates.
  • Handling all NAPS/NATS compliance in general or on an online portal.
